Udhampur (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], September 19: National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah responded to Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khwaja Asif’s statement about Pakistan and the NC-Congress alliance being on the same page regarding the restoration of Article 370. Farooq Abdullah stated, “I don’t know what Pakistan says. I am not a Pakistani; I am an Indian citizen.”

Jammu Kashmir Assembly Polls

Regarding the upcoming Jammu Kashmir Assembly Polls, Farooq Abdullah mentioned that everything would be clear on October 8. He emphasized the importance of bringing back the Darbar Move, a practice where government offices move between Jammu and Srinagar with the seasons. He said, “The first thing I will do is bring back the Darbar Move. We have both been caused a loss because of the Darbar Move.”

BJP’s Reaction

The BJP criticized the Congress-National Conference alliance after Khwaja Asif’s comments. BJP leader Amit Malviya posted on X, “Pakistan, a terrorist state, endorses Congress and National Conference’s position on Kashmir.” BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala questioned the relationship between the Congress party, NC, and Pakistan.

Pakistan’s Defence Minister’s Statement

In an interview on Geo News, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khwaja Asif confirmed that Pakistan and the NC-Congress alliance share the same demand for the restoration of Article 370 and 35A in Jammu and Kashmir. He claimed that Article 370 could return if the NC-Congress alliance comes to power in Jammu and Kashmir.
