BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj Criticizes Delhi Government After Building Collapse in Karol Bagh
New Delhi, India – BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj has criticized the Delhi government for its negligence following a building collapse in Karol Bagh’s Bapa Nagar. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, resulted in four deaths and over 14 injuries.
Swaraj, who visited the injured at the hospital, stated, “Delhi government needs to take cognisance of structures that are in a bad state. So far, four people have lost their lives and more than 14 are injured. Some are undergoing treatment in the RML Hospital and some in Lady Hardinge Hospital. Till when will the people of Delhi keep facing such tragedies due to the carelessness of the Delhi government?”
Atul Garg, Director of Delhi Fire Services, reported that the DFS received information about the collapse at 9.10 am and promptly dispatched five fire tenders to the site.
Delhi Chief Minister designate and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi announced a Rs 10 lakh compensation for the bereaved families and assured financial assistance to the injured. She also promised legal action against the building owner.
Meanwhile, Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor called for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to provide Rs 1 crore compensation to the families of the deceased and Rs 5 lakh to the injured.
