349 Australians Return Safely from Lebanon
On Tuesday, 349 Australians and their families arrived at Sydney Airport after leaving Lebanon over the weekend. This is part of a larger effort by the Australian government to assist citizens in departing Lebanon, with 1,215 people already evacuated.
Assisted Departure Efforts
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) has been coordinating these efforts, with more than 900 individuals already assisted. Further flights are planned to bring more Australians home.
Emotional Homecoming
Foreign Affairs Minister Penny Wong shared a heartfelt image of a family arriving in Sydney, expressing joy and relief. Australia’s Ambassador to Lebanon, Andrew Barnes, also shared images of the embassy staff assisting at Beirut Airport.

The evacuations come amid ongoing military actions by Israel in southern Lebanon and Gaza. The conflict has intensified, with Hezbollah launching projectiles toward Israel, marking a year since the escalation began.
