245 People Injured During Dahi Handi Celebrations in Mumbai
In Mumbai, during the Dahi Handi celebrations for Krishna Janmashtami, 245 people were injured, an increase from the initially reported 238. Many ‘Govindas’ who formed human pyramids were treated at various hospitals, with 207 discharged.
Last year, 195 ‘Govindas’ were injured during the celebrations. Dahi Handi is a major cultural activity where an earthen pot filled with curd, butter, and other milk products is broken by a human pyramid. This tradition symbolizes Lord Krishna’s playfulness and love for butter.
