In a significant operation, security forces in Chhattisgarh have identified 22 out of 31 Naxals killed in an encounter in the Abujhmad area. Inspector General of Bastar, P Sundarraj, confirmed the identification and noted that these Naxals carried a combined reward of Rs 1 crore 67 lakhs. The identification of nine others is ongoing.

The encounter, which took place on the Narayanpur-Dantewada border, involved a joint operation by DRG Dantewada, DRG Narayanpur, and STF teams. The forces acted on information about a gathering of 40 to 50 Naxalites. A heavy exchange of fire ensued, resulting in the recovery of weapons such as LMGs, AK 47s, and SLRs.

Among the identified Naxals, Neeti alias Urmila had the highest bounty of Rs 25 lakh. Other identified individuals include Nandu Mandavi, Suresh Salam alias Janku, and several others. The operation also resulted in one injured security personnel, who is currently receiving treatment and is out of danger.

The operation marks a major crackdown on left-wing extremism in the region, with security forces continuing their search operations in the area.
