12-Year-Old Taarini Lodha Tops Junior Equestrian Qualifiers in Bangalore
Mumbai-based 12-year-old Taarini Lodha from the Amateur Riders’ Club (ARC) excelled in the qualifying round for the Junior National Equestrian Championship held in Bangalore. She competed in the under-12 Dressage category and secured the first position while riding her horse, Belvedere.
Other young riders from ARC, including Arya Chandorkar, Rehaan Shah, and Stasya Pandya, also qualified for the Nationals, which will take place in Delhi in December 2024. The event is organized by the Equestrian Federation of India (EFI) and features categories like Show Jumping and Dressage.
In the JNEC Show Jumping Children I category, Rehaan Shah and Arya Chandorkar qualified, while Stasya Pandya secured her spot in the Children II category. Jahnvi Raheja and Vritika Gambhir qualified in the JNEC Show Jumping Junior Riders category.
All these riders train at the world-class facilities of ARC at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse. The club has produced top athletes like Hriday Chheda, a 2023 Asian Games gold medalist, and Yashaan Khambatta, a 2014 Asian Games representative, who now coach young equestrians at ARC.
Taarini expressed her gratitude, saying, “I’m very thankful to ARC for supporting me. The international-level training facilities at ARC have helped me take my game to the next level. Bob has been a very patient and determined coach throughout my journey. Belvedere has been a very trustworthy horse, and I rely on her completely. Cathedral and John Connon School have also supported me whenever needed. Without their continuous support, I wouldn’t have been able to get where I am.”
Milan Luthria, President of ARC, said, “The ARC is thrilled that six of our young riders have qualified for the Junior Nationals to be held in December this year under the aegis of the Equestrian Federation of India. Our efforts in maintaining the best possible facilities, having top coaches and horses, and a world-class practice arena have helped these children achieve this. Results like this also inspire other youngsters to join the Club and take up this unique sport with passion.”
